I’ve been involved with Mehad since he was born, and as a medical student at the time, I wanted to raise public awareness of the issue of sexual violence as a weapon of war in conflict zones. This commitment took shape when I became a psychiatrist specialising in psycho-trauma and became involved in supporting communications and missions to promote the mental health of victims of war and its consequences over several generations.
Being a member of the Board today is a continuation of this commitment, enabling me to take a more active role in these projects.

It has been a year since I embraced my role as a Finance Coordinator at Mehad. I was drawn to the chance to work internationally and the positive, collaborative environment fostered by a supportive, goal-oriented team. The good energy, mutual respect, and opportunities for skill development make each day fulfilling. Some of my highlights include receiving donor approvals and celebrating significant milestones—witnessing and sharing the joy with everyone is incredibly rewarding. As an Iraqi Kurdish native from Kurdistan, I am acutely aware of the challenges people face in conflict zones, which fuels my passion for working in the humanitarian sector.
I sincerely commend Mehad’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable communities and the chance to create a meaningful impact in war-affected areas. My name is Halah, and I am 31 years old. I have spent the past five years working as a nurse in the thalassemia treatment unit at Mehad in Raqqa.
My daily tasks involve monitoring patients, managing blood transfusions, and administering treatments and dosages under doctors’ supervision.
I also coordinate blood transfusion appointments for children in need, dedicating eight hours a day to patient care.
I joined Mehad out of a deep commitment to ensuring equal access to healthcare. Each day, I see the profound impact our medical interventions have on underserved communities. From conducting health screenings to providing essential treatments, my work transcends a job; it’s a mission to guarantee everyone receives the care they deserve.
Working at Mehad is more than just a profession; it’s a fundamental part of my life and humanitarian mission.

My name is Kateryna, and I am a physical therapist in Mehad’s rehabilitation project. I chose to join Mehad because it enables me to practice my job while serving my country. Each day, I witness the direct effects of our work on the lives of those we assist in recovering from physical and emotional injuries.
