In April 2026, Mehad will celebrate 15 years of dedication to healthcare in the most vulnerable settings.
Founded in 2011 by doctors from the Syrian diaspora at the start of the conflict in Syria, the organisation was established to ensure access to quality healthcare in areas where health systems are fragile or non-existent.
Over the years, Mehad has developed recognised expertise in implementing health programmes in crisis situations, combining medical care, health system strengthening and training for healthcare professionals. The organisation is currently active in several regions affected by conflict and humanitarian crises, notably in Ukraine and Yemen, as well as in Lebanon and the West Bank.
In these environments, access to healthcare remains a vital issue. As crises drag on and humanitarian needs continue to grow, Mehad remains committed to ensuring the continuity of care for the most vulnerable communities.
Fifteen years after its inception, this mission continues to be driven by a vital collective effort, bringing together donors, partners, volunteers and teams working on the ground.
An anniversary marked by a spirit of solidarity
To mark his 15th birthday, Mehad made a choice that reflects who he really is.
Rather than organising a formal event, the organisation opted for a low-key yet committed approach, offering a programme of activities held entirely online and open to everyone.
This decision is based on a simple principle: to devote available resources to what really matters—field operations—rather than to a celebration.
The organisation therefore offers a programme of initiatives that is entirely online, designed as a space for engagement open to all.
Social media plays a central role in this context. It enables us to celebrate these 15 years of commitment, whilst encouraging public participation through various forms of engagement.
Taking part in online campaigns, promoting initiatives or providing financial support for programmes: these are all ways of helping to further its objectives.
Several formats are available:
– Solidarity challenges, such as walking challenges or peer-to-peer fundraising among friends and family;
– Experience sharing, through videos or testimonials reflecting the connection with the organization;
– Visual content, highlighting key moments from 15 years of action.

Given the scale of the needs, this campaign helps to support Mehad’s ongoing work and raise awareness of the challenges surrounding access to healthcare in crisis-hit areas
