Paris 6 February 2023 – Last night, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake (and its smaller aftershocks) devastated Turkey and Syria. The situation is catastrophic. Thousands of buildings have collapsed. More than 2,300 people have been reported dead, including 800 in Syria, thousands injured and thousands missing. The death toll is still provisional and worsening by the hour. Not to mention all the internally displaced people in Syria, who find themselves out in the cold without shelter. Our Mehad teams are working alongside NGO coordinators in Syria to bring aid to the people on the ground.
