NORTH-WEST SYRIA
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, Mehad has launched a new initiative aimed at Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) for displaced families in Northern Aleppo. In partnership with local stakeholders, we have distributed essential food supplies, nutritional supplements, and conducted educational sessions to promote healthier feeding practices for infants and young children.
This project directly supports more than 10,000 displaced individuals living in camps, ensuring they have access to adequate nutrition amidst challenging circumstances.
Through these efforts, Mehad continues to stand by the people of Northwest Syria, delivering much-needed relief and working toward a healthier future for all.
The project aims at re-activating the four MBAs in camps and Four MIYCN mobile teams (one team attached to each MBA) at the following location:
Idlib governorate:
Harim district, Kafr Takharim subdistrict, Kafr Takharim communities – Dweila Camp
Ariha district, Mhambal subdistrict, Mhambal communities -Almahata Camp.
Aleppo governorate:
A’zaz district, A’zaz subdistrict, Kaljibrin communities – Alwafaa Camp
A’zaz district, Suran subdistrict, Suran communities – Ehteimlat Camp
Through the fixed facilities and mobile teams, the main activities will be:
- Screening, admission, treatment and follow up of PLWs and CU5 with Acute Malnutrition
- One to one counselling
- Awareness/education group sessions
- Peer Support Groups including father-to-father (F2FSG) and mother-to-mother session groups (MTMSG).
- Re-lactation messages
- Support and referral for mother who in need for mental health and psychosocial support and survivors of gender-based violence.
