In January 2025, Mehad opened its first medical clinic in Aleppo to meet the urgent needs of displaced persons in the Shahba region. Faced with growing humanitarian challenges, this initiative aims to guarantee access to healthcare for local and displaced populations.
The clinic operates in three areas each week, with two consultation days per sector. It offers comprehensive care, including child monitoring, reproductive health, treatment of infectious and chronic diseases, screening for malnutrition, health education and psychological support.
Every day, almost 100 patients receive care from a team of 13 professionals: doctor, midwife, pharmacist, nurses, outreach workers and a psychological support specialist. A dedicated nurse also monitors patient nutrition.
In addition to medical care, psychological support is offered. Support sessions provide emergency assistance and raise awareness of mental health issues, an essential need to help people overcome the hardships of displacement and daily life.
Since the fall of the regime, Mehad has been committed to extending its action throughout the country to meet the immense humanitarian needs. With this new clinic, the organisation is continuing its commitment to providing access to healthcare for the most vulnerable sections of the population, using a comprehensive approach that combines medical care and psychological support.
