For the past 14 years, Deir-ez-Zor, like many Syrian regions, has been suffering from the ravages of war, and this area has been particularly hard hit. The town’s main hospital, an essential pillar for the population, is now in dire straits. Due to a lack of resources, it operates with old or non-existent equipment, making treatment extremely precarious.
Mehad’s involvement in the field
Faced with this critical situation, Mehad is continuing its commitment in Syria by supporting local medical teams. Currently on mission in Deir-ez-Zor, Dr Ziad Alissa, anaesthetist and Mehad’s President, is lending his expertise to the medical staff. His work naturally focuses on anaesthesia, an area particularly affected by the lack of suitable equipment and qualified staff. As proof of this, the town currently has no anaesthetist-resuscitator!
By working alongside local teams, he is helping to improve patient care in extremely precarious conditions, while highlighting the alarming situation of the hospital and its urgent needs.

An appeal for your solidarity
To enable the hospital to function fully, we need to raise €40,000 to equip its operating theatre. Urgent needs include: an operating table, an anaesthesia ventilator, surgical instruments, scialytics, a monitor, scalpels, a mobile C-arm, etc.
With your help, we can give medical teams back the means to provide quality care and save lives.
