For months, the Syrian regime has intensified its efforts to regain control of Jabal al-Zawiya and its surrounding villages, putting the lives of thousands of innocent civilians at risk. The unprecedented violence of these bombardments has forced residents to flee en masse, exacerbating an already deplorable humanitarian crisis in the region.
Repeated forced displacement: A nightmare for families who were already displaced two years ago.
The residents of Jabal al-Zawiya are sadly familiar with the traumatic experience of forced displacement. Around two years ago, many of them were forced to leave their villages to escape the ravages of violence and bombardment. They endured precarious conditions in displacement camps, and then, through an act of perseverance, some finally managed to return to their home villages, desperately seeking some semblance of stability.
Today, however, these civilians live in constant anxiety, unable to predict when another salvo of bombs will fall on their homes. A persistent fear haunts them: that the Syrian regime will spread its sinister ballet of violence to new localities. This apprehension stems from the worrying advance of government forces in many areas that were once considered relatively safe, and which are threatened day after day by an imminent takeover by the forces of law and order.

The international community’s appeal: why it’s time to act to end the crisis in northern Syria
The whole world must become aware of the silent tragedy unfolding in Jabal al-Zawiya and more generally in northern Syria. Syrian civilians continue to pay the price of war, caught in the crossfire between different forces, with no guarantee of security or stability.
As the crisis in Syria continues, it is essential to remember that behind every statistic lie shattered lives and stories of courage. The people of Jabal al-Zawiya deserve a better future, free from terror and violence. It is current and future generations that continue to be sacrificed. It is time for the world to stand up and put an end to this endless humanitarian catastrophe.
