Al Mouwassat hospital in Damascus equipped with a digital X-ray machine

7 October 2025

After re-equipping the operating theatre at the national hospital in Deir-Ez-Zor, Mehad is continuing its plan to support the Syrian healthcare system with a new delivery to Damascus. An advanced digital X-ray machine (DR X-ray) has been delivered to Al Mouwassat University Hospital, the capital’s largest medical facility.

This delivery was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Mehad, the Union des médecins et pharmaciens syriens en France and the Association Fathers and Sons – Paris.

An urgent need for a referral hospital

Al Mouwassat hospital plays a central role in patient care in Damascus and throughout the country. With thousands of consultations every day, it is faced with growing demand and often obsolete equipment, the result of more than a decade of conflict.
The arrival of this new digital X-ray machine will improve the quality of diagnoses, reduce examination times and lighten the load on medical teams.

Solidarity for Syrians

The installation of this new equipment, which has been made possible thanks to the generosity of our donors, illustrates the continuing efforts of Mehad and its partners to strengthen the capacity of healthcare establishments in Syria. Together, we are helping to restore essential medical services and provide patients with lasting access to quality care!
