NORTH-EAST SYRIA
Mehad celebrated World Mental Health Day, which falls on 10 October every year, through a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of the importance of mental health as a basic human right. An introductory session was held on the concept of mental health and its importance, in addition to reviewing the key messages of the Mental Health Working Group 2024, for staff and beneficiaries.
Awareness brochures were also distributed highlighting the importance of psychological support services and emphasising the right of every individual to receive quality mental health care. The aim of these activities was to emphasise the role of mental health in the workplace and the need to create a positive work environment that guarantees the rights of individuals to receive psychological support.
These events took place in several of Mehad’s health facilities in northern and eastern Syria, including the Thalassaemia Unit, Blood Bank, Central Laboratory, Radiology Department at the National Hospital in Raqqa, Primary Health Care Centres in Al Karama, Abu Hamam, Harijiya and Al Susa, as well as the mobile clinic in Deir ez-Zor.
The event also included a festive hospitality to mark the occasion, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to promoting mental health and the rights of individuals to access the necessary care.
