Mehad, expresses its strongest condemnation of the brutal attacks on civilians in Palestine, as well as the recent deliberate targeting of health facilities, including the Al Ahli hospital, in the last few days of conflict.
Mehad recognises the human suffering caused by these acts of violence, and we are deeply concerned by the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region. We firmly believe that all parties to the conflict must respect international humanitarian law, thereby protecting civilians and medical facilities in times of armed conflict.
“It is imperative that the international community acts swiftly to put an end to this unacceptable violence and protect the lives of innocent civilians. The bombing of health facilities cannot be justified under any circumstances. We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and respect for the fundamental rights of every individual in the region.”
said Dr Ziad Alissa, President of Mehad.
Mehad is committed to playing an active role in alleviating the suffering in Palestine. We have taken the initiative to collaborate with a local association, and we are working with Palestinian doctors to provide essential humanitarian aid to the victims of this conflict. Our aim is to help provide emergency medical care, medicines and other resources to support those affected by these tragic events.
Mehad would also like to reiterate the imperative of allowing humanitarian workers to carry out their vital mission in a safe and unhindered environment. Humanitarian workers are the guardians of the values of humanity, providing essential assistance to vulnerable populations in often dangerous conditions.
We urge the international community to show solidarity and take concrete steps to end the violence and work towards a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in Palestine. Mehad continues to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of affected civilians and to advocate for the protection of human rights in the region.
