Since 2020, the blood bank at the National Hospital in Raqqa continues to provide its vital medical services, supported by MEHAD, to form an essential element in supporting the local health system. The bank aims to meet the needs of the Thalassaemia Treatment Centre for blood units and blood products, as well as the needs of all private and public health facilities in the region, by providing a continuous and safe supply of blood.
The bank operates around the clock, providing its services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, thanks to highly experienced and specialised medical staff. This continuous effort contributes to ensuring that blood units are always available, which is an essential pillar to save the lives of patients in emergency situations and ongoing treatment, especially for thalassaemia patients.
Through donations from the generous community, the bank is able to fulfil its blood and blood products requirements, relying mainly on regular donors, and with each donation, accurate tests are carried out to verify that the units are safe and free of any diseases, ensuring the safety of patients.
Over the past three months, the blood bank has witnessed a large number of donors, with more than 8,000 donors, which contributed to providing more than 42,000 services, benefiting about 4,000 people. These figures reflect the continuous efforts made by the blood bank and the need for community co-operation in this humanitarian initiative.
The blood bank at the National Hospital in Raqqa is an integral part of the health system that works to provide the necessary care for those in need. We thank everyone who contributes to this blessed initiative, and we call on everyone to donate regularly to ensure the continuity of this vital service.
