As part of its rehabilitation programme in Ukraine, Mehad takes in war-wounded people who sometimes have to undergo treatment for long periods. This period, which is essential to ensure optimum recovery, can nevertheless be hard on patients, both physically and emotionally.
To help them stay on track throughout their treatment, Mehad organises a series of social and cultural activities. In the summer, outings into the city are organised to provide an opportunity to get away from it all, to make contact with the outside world and to meet up with friends. When the temperatures drop, art therapy workshops are held, a creative space that allows patients to express their emotions, reduce stress and enhance their psychological well-being.
These activities play an essential role, reminding us that rehabilitation is not just about treating the body. Supporting the mind, creating links and restoring confidence are just as essential to enable war-wounded people to fully rebuild their lives.
With this holistic approach, Mehad continues to affirm its commitment to offering every patient a care pathway that is humane, comprehensive and respectful of their dignity.
