Yemen: training to improve emergency response

25 March 2026

In contexts where healthcare systems are under strain, training medical teams is a key factor in improving the quality of care. In recent weeks, Mehad has organised several training sessions on emergency care at Lawder Hospital, as part of the expansion of its partnership with the hospital management, and with the support of the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Building on our foundations and taking things further

These training courses have enabled more than twenty nurses to enhance their skills in managing emergency situations. Designed as a step-by-step programme, they combined:

  • sessions to revise key knowledge
  • and the introduction of new content tailored to the realities on the ground

The aim: to enable teams to be more responsive, more confident and better prepared when faced with critical situations.

Measuring progress, improving practices

Each session included pre- and post-training assessments to measure learning outcomes and progress made. The results show a clear improvement in knowledge, confirming the tangible impact of these training sessions on healthcare professionals’ practices.

Strengthening health systems in the long term

Conducted in close collaboration with local teams, these training programmes form part of a long-term approach: supporting healthcare workers, building their capacity, and improving the quality of care for the benefit of patients.

At Mehad, we firmly believe that supporting healthcare professionals strengthens the entire system. After all, every trained healthcare worker means better care for patients.
