In an important step towards improving health care in affected areas, MEHAD launched the first medical clinic in Aleppo city at the beginning of January 2025, in response to the difficult humanitarian conditions suffered by those displaced from rural Aleppo to the areas of Ashrafiya, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Bani Zeid.
The clinic provides its services on a regular basis, covering two areas weekly and working three times a week in each area to meet the needs of the local population and IDPs alike. The clinic aims to provide comprehensive medical services to the community including (reproductive health, child health, infectious and chronic diseases, malnutrition screening, health awareness, psychological support).
More than 100 patients benefit from the clinic’s services on a daily basis, with a team of 13 staff, including 11 medical personnel (doctor, midwife, pharmacist, nurses, outreach workers, psychological support worker) and a nutrition nurse.
Among the core services provided by the clinic are psychological support sessions that focus on providing psychological first aid and raising awareness of mental health issues. This focus is vital under the difficult circumstances that people are going through, helping them cope with the psychological stress of displacement and daily hardships.
MEHAD continues its efforts to provide free healthcare to the most vulnerable communities, aiming to make a positive change in people’s lives by providing medical and psychological support in times of crisis.
